Italy has won a hat trick of medals in the Tokyo Paralympics women's 100 metres. Sabatini Gold, Caironi Silver and Contrafatto Bronze. Gold medal winner, Ambra Sabatini, also broke the world record. Bronze medalist, Monica Graziana Contrafatto, a former soldier who lost her leg while serving in Afganistan, told Rai Sport, "I want to dedicate my medal to that other country that took something away from me but actually gave me a lot, Afghanistan". Italian Prime Minister, Mario Draghi, said, "The dedication, professionalism and talent shown by Italian Paralympic athletes is a source of great pride and inspiration for the whole country." The Prime Minister will receive the three athletes at Palazzo Chigi, together with all the other winners, upon their return from Tokyo.
