Quantum Computing Breakthrough

A team working at the Italian National Research Council (CNR) in Milan, has developed a quantum computer that is superior to the one recently patented by Google. Where conventional computers make calculations through logic gates, quantum computers use artificial intelligence to program calculations through quantum logic gates. The Google computer only trains the program to operate through one logic gate at a time, where the Italian computer will train for all the logic gates simulataneously. Eric Lucero, the lead engineer at Google Quantum AI has explained how quantum computing will be necessary in the coming years. "Looking ahead 10 years, many of the biggest global challenges, from climate change to the management of the next pandemic, will require a new type of computing".
