On 3rd August, 2020, its replacement, the San Giorgio bridge was officially opened by Italian president, Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte. The new bridge's designer, famous Italian architect, Renzi Piano, was also present at the ceremony.
